Win XP and old computer with old SCSI drive

I need to install Win XP Pro on an old computer. It is a dual 450 MHz Xeon (PII core) with 640 MB memory. I've got three questions.
(1) Will the processors have enough speed to run XP reasonably well (I'm not using a really speed hungry program, but I don't want it to feel like molasis either).
(2) I've heard that there have been issues with older SCSI drives in Win XP. I put the XP disk into the computer and it came up with a warning that there might be trouble with the drive. What are the tips and techniques to deal with these issues?
(3) Can XP fit well with a couple of applications on a 4 GB drive?

(1) with that much memory and (2) 450 proc's, it should run quite well
(2) Ive heard the same thing...but it cant hurt to do a clean install on the SCSI drive adn try XP...if the drives gonna die, might as well be during setup instead of when your using it currently in
(3) Yes, a good install and updates/drivers and a few apps can fit on a 4GB drive...I think I had Office XP and all the WinZip, etc, etc installed adn it was 3.8GB

I'm not worried about the disk going bad. I'm worried about Win XP supporting it. The upgrade advisor says "Your computer has a mass storage device that is not supported in Win XP." I can only assume that is the SCSI hard drive. Any tips on how to get it supported?

Maybe its the SCSI card or controller? I cant imagine XP knowing the difference between 'xxx' scsi drive and 'xxa' scsi drive...

yeah, it'll be the scsi card.
if the maker doesn't have a xp driver then you can always try the win2k one.

Yeh, who makes it? Im sure the knowledge of Ars can find the drivers....!

Its a Compaq AP400, I'm not at work, but I'll look it up tomorrow. I hope we can find a driver for it.
