I am running XP on a 1100 celeron and everything is great. No lag or slowdowns of any kind.

Not true. There are no problems with running Windows XP on a Pentium III system.

XP for the most part should run on any moderm computer system (P2 and higher). XP is more of a machine hog than win2k, unless you need something that is not available in win2k there is no reason to upgrade.

My thoughts echo what this person said. I used XP Pro for a while, but upon sitting down and figuring out that Win2k Pro would do everything I needed to do just about as well, and would be faster and consume less ram, it was a decision that involved almost no thought simply to go back to Win2k (I would probably have stayed with XP if I had felt like spending the money to increase my RAM from 256MB to 768MB or 1GB, but I didn't feel like wasting $70 when I could get a similar increase in speed with no expense, so...) :D

Runs pretty good on my PIII 500 too. The key is to have lots of RAM and a fast hard drive. XP, like Win2k, is not that CPU intensive.
