Win X64 will not recognize my smartmedia card, help!

Hello, I just purchased a USB 2.0 Smartmedia & xD Card Reader from Circuit City and I am running Windows 64bit. When I plug in the reader (directly or via the cable) it is recognized in My Computer as a Removable Disk (H🙂. However, when I put my smartmedia card in the reader, my computer is not recognizing it & I get the message:

Please insert a disk into Drive H:

I called up customer service and they told me to take it back & try another one. Well, I replaced it and I am experiencing the same problems. Any ideas?
