Hi guys I have Win me on my drive C:, Win 2k server on drive F:, and I wanted to install Redhat 7 on my drive E:
. Can I install redhat 7 and still access my win 2k ? redhat's webpage says it will overwrite the mbr so that NT won't boot. They mention using a boot disk to get around this ?? Is there a way I can avoid this ?

Also for a newbie should I try another linux other than redhat 7 ?

I don't know about tri-booting that way ( I did get Win98 SE, Win 2K Pro, and Mandrake 6.1 to work using System Commander). I currently dual boot Win Me, and Mandrake 7.2. In order to do this I had to put Win Me on first then Linux. It has its own boot mngr, and works great.

Yes, it can be done. Use 3 Partitions

Install WinME first, then install win2k on another partition, then RH7 on the third partition.

Use LILO, that way you can either boot to DOS or Linux

On my work pc I have:

Win95
WinNT WS 4
Redhat 6.1
BeOS 5
and Freesco Router

all on 3 partitions.

fogleroller, so which install options will I have to pick when installing the rh 7 ?

Is there a helppage or something that shows the install procedure steps to install rh 7 with win 2k ?

When you load RH7 (Bootable CD) During the disk partition portion, leave the DOS partitions alone. Install RH on the extra partition using Native Linux file format.

Do not use the linux FDISK, use the other option.

make sure you create a "Swap" partition, a "/" mount partition, and a "/home" partition. These 3 partitions will be created on the 1 free partition. These are just my recommendations. As you go along and learn more you can do your own partitioning the way you like it.

It may seem confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it.

I am a newbie also, but I have installed RH 6.1, 6.2 and 7 several times and I am running it on 3 machines. I recommend getting a book for reference (one of those thick ones).
