Alright, I know win me is gay. But I need help...

I have a geforce2 ultra. It's using dell drivers. I want to remove the drivers and install fresh detonator drivers. However, everytime I try to do this. Win ME installs the old ones when I reboot. I got to system and remove the video card. Then reboot with the hope of installing the dets. Now, I'm guessing there must be a way by this.

I figured out that if you install the newest version of drivers dell offers. It removes the old drivers then asks me to reboot. But it auto installs the new ones when I reboot. Sigh..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dave-

PS: I've tried just installing the dets, I get all kinds of .drv errors. (which is why I'm here)

Get rid of Windows ME and also make sure that no antivirus software is running when you do the driver install.

Ran detonator destroyer. Got 2 different errors.

"Cannot read uninstall string."
OK?

Clicked ok. I then recieve this one.

"DD will now uninstall and remove all reference to the version of nVidia drivers.
Do you want to continue?"

"yes" "no"

So I'm guessing that if I hit yes. It's going to remove half the drivers and leave the other half. Making it so I can't reboot without wasting hours of my time reinstalling the chip etc.

So like I said before, and please read what I say. "WILL IT UNINSTALL THE DELL VIDEO CARD DRIVERS?" Which are infact nvidia drivers, version 4.2 or something. But I got it from dell.com/support/

Thanks, Ruckas-

Dell does do some tweaks to the OEM drivers.
Most are WHQL certified, so there should be no
reason why it will not remove it.

To avoid problems, install the STANDARD VGA driver first.

Then boot to SAFE MODE and remove the driver with DD.
