I'm was trying to help a friend resolve a software problem, over the phone, with Kodak Easy Share 2.1 and now things have really messed up :-(
This Kodak program suddenly stopped attaching the .jpg files to the emails that she sent from there.
After trying the solution that Kodak offered her and it still didn't work, I deleted the program completely and reinstalled. Still didn't work.
Finally I said to run System Restore and pick the latest 'Restore point' when she was sure that the Kodak program was working.
During the first try, System Restore stopped working about 3/4 of the way through. The only way she could get out was to hit Ctl+Alt+Del, end the task, etc... She did receive the message saying that System Restore wasn't able to restore back to the date she picked, that no system settings were changed, etc....
She tried a couple more times. No hang ups, it went thru a restart, but when it was done it, both times it said that System Restore wasn't able to restore to that point, but that NO system settings were changed.
I told her to try once more, to forget about the Kodak software problem, but to do a restore back to the nearest Restore Point..which was the day before. When she went to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES &SYSTEM TOOLS, System Restore was no longer there? I had her check System Properties under Control Panel/System...but still no System Restore.
I did a search of all .exe files and nothing resembling System Restore was present.
I now run WinXP on my computer and hardly ever have a problem...none with System Restore. I do remember when I had Win ME running on my system, that System Restore was nearly ALWAYS unable to restore back to the point you requested.
Any idea what happened? I need to at least get her back to the point before I tried to help. What is the name of the program file (.exe) for System Restore in ME. ?
Thanks
