Win ME or Win 98 ?

Hello,

I'm building a new system, and there I want to make multiboot with Win2k - for mostly programming (like to use Borland Builder C++) , Linux (for now - RedHat 6.1) - for experimenting and get to knowing linux and stuff ( I love to experiment and get to know new stuff 😉 , and other OS I need for gaming ... with which should I go ? Win 98 SE or Win ME ? .... this OS would be exclusive for games , so there almost wouldn't be any other software 😉

Thank you,
bye.

Just think of WinMe as Win98 with a little more added features, but the beginning of the end of DOS.

I love some of the added features. Not the ones Microsoft touts, but the small ones they don't bother bringing up.

You can always use a DOS patch to bring DOS back if needed.

I've found that even though I'm a heavy gamer, I never boot to 98 anymore. All my games run fine in 2K and I don't have nearly the stablility issues I had with 98. If you are careful in choosing your hardware, you may not have a need for 9x.

i am using win Me on my system without have a problem, and i just back to 98 if i want to play a game

Stay with Win98/Win98SE. I have 98, 98SE, ME and 2000 Professional, and I can tell you that 2000 Professional is definitely the best, and WinME the worst. I had more stability issues with WinME than with Win98, and it took me hours to get it working properly, as opposed to Win98 which sets up without a hitch and usually works ok if you don't stress it much.

Windows 2000 is significantly harder to crash than 98, though.
