Win Me keeps changing the system time... and the CMOS battery is new..Help

My customer is having problems with Win ME, it keeps changing the system time, and the CMOS battery is brand new....
Mouse is acting erratic too, and it is a new mouse as well...
What can cause such a defect?
Can it be a virus?
Help,

Maybe someone had similar problem?

Problem with the mobo?
if it's on a 2k/nt domain it could be pulling system time from the DC

I dont think it is a problem with a mobo, since I replaced a battery on it, hoping that it is going to solve the problem, but it didnt. It is a regular "home" computer, on a network without a domain. Upgrading to Win 2000/XP is not an issue, because these people are too lazy to reinstall all of the software latter on, or learn how to use new operating system. Also, some of the games for kids they have will not run on win 2k/xp... and that would make them very upset....
