WIN ME for me?

I haven't had good of luck with WIN2K. I've been on it for nearly a year, and while I rarely get a BSOD, I have had problems booting. Scenario, yesterday, I load a DVD player program on and it calls for a reboot. I do and upon reboot I get a blue screen Windows STOP ERROR 00000001E. It reboots itself to the same thing. Again, and again, and again. I then hit F8 for options an choose safe mode. Same thing. I choose last known good configuration. Same thing. I choose VGA mode. SAME THING! I use the emergency restore disk(ERD). It loads all kind of stuff, takes over 20 minutes. Finally reboots and the SAME THING!. I had to format the drive and reinstall the whole OS.
Now here is the kicker: This is the 5th time in about 3 months! Sometimes I didn't even load anything new. Last time, I come home from work, turn it on and get stop error and I cannot proceed any further. I changed motherboards and hard drives, reinstalled and few weeks later the same thing.
This morning I loaded WIN ME. Works fine so far. It's a shame to waste a dual CPU motherboard though. At least with ME I can recover from a boot problem.
I would definitely recommend a dual boot.

Well I cannot dispute something is wrong. The memory brand is Crucial, and while not infallible, it is a good brand. I have changed MB, HD and video card in search of this problem. It is also up to or over a month between occurrences. Mostly right after a new driver install, but not always.
My main issue, which isn't to do with my hardware, is the lack of resources when this problem does come up. Unless I'm missing something, if WIN2K gets a severe stop error, I'm screwed? Right? What else am I to do if I turn it on and get on of these stop errors? Excluding all the things I already listed? Is there any known problems with WIN2K and RAID and NFTS?

Thanks

MIKE
