Win Me/2k laptop boot problem

Something got screwed up on my dad's WinMe laptop. It's an older IBM 233mhz with PCMCIA cd drive. I wanted to format it and install 2k but could not find a way to boot recognizing the PCMCIA cd drive. I copied the I386 folder to the cd to try to do a fresh install of 2k. It finally failed after copying a bunch of crap. When I went into Me, the problem was gone after experiencing it incessantly for days. My problem now is that, at bootup, there is a boot menu defaulting to continue Win2k installation with a choice above it for booting previous operating system. Ntldr and other 2k files are present in root, but no boot.ini file exists on the hard drive. How do I take away the boot menu and have it boot straight to WinMe?

Also, does anyone have a link to a bootdisk, possibly at bootdisk.com, that boots with PCMCIA support so that I can format and freshly install 2k from the PCMCIA cd drive? All I see over there are bootdisks for different OSs. I don't know what functionality they provide.

look for a file in the root directory of C:> by the name of boot.ini

edit that to get rid of the menu selection

you may be SOL on booting from the pcmcia drive. :( check the ibm site for drivers for your particular model of laptop.
