When I reboot my computer it goes through this long spew of detecting new Hardware, buttons, power etc etc.
In the device manager it lists a whole bunch Of undefined devices.
This started when I was trying to use the add newhard ware wizard in the control panel(trying to get a Damn TV card to install!!!! ARG!).It detected a couple of things and I let it try to install the dfrivers for them, took about 20 minutes and it couldnt find any or on the win se disk.
My question is how do I get rid of these devices without windows trying to redect them everytime I restart my system?
Any one know anything about AverMedia TV98 Stereo tv cards?I cant install the software because it says there is no driver installed for the card, but it shows it right there in the device manager!
I am so fustrated Im spitting teeth!I have been working on this for about 8 hours now!
I think Im going to ship this mofo back, and put a bullet or 60 through my computer!:disgust::|

Sounds like you don't have something major like a chipset driver or something insalled on this thing.

Has this been running normally before?

What kind of hardware do you have and what devices are detected?

Yeah it s been running fine, well other than the mouse freezes every once in awhile.I dont know why that is.
I was trying to install that tv card was tired and hit the wrong key.It went through this spew above. All the devices that arent detected are also listed as being detected elsewhere in the device manager,Go figure.

I would physically remove the card, reboot properly a coupla times, remove the drivers, reboot properly again, then start with physically installing the card and then going through the driver config.

Make sure your drivers are for Win2k too, otherwise things can get iffy.

This is kinda like in 95/98 having to reset a vid card driver to "Standard VGA" before removing the old vid card and installing a new one.

shark has a good idea. also if that not work you can tell win to cancel durring the install and it should just give you a yellow check in the device mngr.
temp fix . but it will stop bugging you till you figure it out.

also did you try just running the install program itself ?
or just cram the drivers in by telling win. to use them.

good luck
