Win 98SE and 1 Gig of DDR RAM

I am running Win 98 SE on a ASUS P4PE with 512 MB of DDR 2700 Ram. Is there any concern if I go up another 512 with Win 98SE? I eventually want to go to XP but the Ram is so cheap these days!

Thanks

Yes, if i recall right there is a memory 'bug' in win95/98/ME if you use more then 512 ram, but there is a fix for it also.

I think you have to hack some settings in the system.ini file. MaxFileCache something....(someone else probably has a better answer)

An alternative to bacillus's link is to search for a prog called cacheman. install it, run once, dont need to fiddle anything and it'll be fine.

Thanks all. I do know of Cacheman though I have not installed. Should I run it before I add the RAM or after. From the Microsoft link, I may have a problem even booting.
