Win 98 SE or Win ME

i know this has probably come up a few times, but i upgraded my computer from win 98 SE to win me and i noticed the boot time is about the same, everything else is practically the game. i heard the win me is supposedly meant to boot faster than 98 se? is it because i upgraded and didn't clean install win me?

anyway i'm building a new computer and i'm wondering whether to put 98 se or win me onto it... it will be a clean install of the os, so i want to know if win me is better than 98 se in a clean install...?

i mostly play games and surf the net

for playing the games and surfing the net, i would say go with 98se. my experience with winme just says stay away from it for any reason. its the blue screen of death version.

stick with Win98 SE for now....

i guess you got lucky and didn't get any errors when upgrading, as many people have reported problems when upgradign from SE to ME.

I've had bad experience with WinME, it's hard to find an advocate for it. It doesn't significantly improve anything over Win98SE, just stick to that for now. It's what I'm using. 🙂

win ME stinks...... choosing between 98se and Me is like picking your poison..... if you want to build a stable system now win2k is incredibly stable...... ive been running it for 5-6 months w/o one OS crash yet. (knock on wood).

I'm now on a Dual boot with 98se and ME and can't really pin it down. Win ME is great for most things but when gaming it sometimes seems subject to more lag. I don't know why. I still prefer 98se for games but not by a large margin anymore.
