Hello,

I'm tring to do a junker pc for a friend all she want it for is email and surfing. Anyway the junker pc has no floppy drive and the os is asking to make a floppy and won't let me continue without doing this is there anyway to bypass this step?

Thanks,
-Eric

IIRC Win98 needed a floppy drive to operate correctly, I've never tried it with out one.
however it's been a while since I had to install Windows 98(my P4 2.66 hasn't missed a beat since it's win98se install 2 years ago)

oh you might want to change your title(remove any reference to win98) or incure the wrath(read: utter stupidity)of the fuckwit known as Link19.

If this is during the install I'm pretty sure you can cancel the Backup Disk (don't they call it a Startup Disk). I've recently installed Windows 98 on a couple of laptops without floppy drives and not had a problem with this step.

You very definitely can. Also, Evil, why not have her order a $5.99 floppy drive?:

I can't remember the switch off the top of my head, but there is one you can add that avoids the whole rescue disk thing from the setup.

Yes, you click continue (make the floppy), and when the setup ask you to put a floppy in the drive only then you click "cancel".
