Win 98 Power Management won't work

I'd like to use my Power Management app in Win 98 but the standby mode doesn't do anything. The HD and monitor shutdown feature will activate but won't respond to mouse or keyboard activity in order to restore to powered on mode. I end up having to press the start button to reboot. I tried enabling and disabling the features in BIOS but still nothing works as intended.
Am I missing something here or perhaps doing something wrong?

Here's the basic specs on my sys:

AMD K7 600 CPU
Asus K7M Mainboard
256 MB Micron PC 133 SDRAM
Matrox Millenium G400 32 MB video
IBM Deskstar 20 GB UDMA 66 7200 RPM HD
Win 98 SE
Viewsonic PF790 Monitor

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Mine has never worked either, I've gotten used to it. It can be very troublesome anyway, when I was doing Micron tech support we usually disabled it if we had the chance, just to keep it from acting up.

This is a known issue with Win98 if your OS is formatted FAT32. Search the MS knowledge database and you will find reference to this. My problem was that my monitor would not come out of sleep mode correctly. I chased this problem for nearly 2 months before I posted on this forum and someone clued me in. Stop chasing your tail on this one.....I already have.

Yah, I just gave up and let the bios do it.
Never knew the reason why. So fat32 eh? Wonderful product.
Don't think I'll be going back to fat16 for PM. I noticed it show up on more than one type of box on my network so I knew it wasn't HW and decided I was better off without it
