Win 98 How to restart with bare min background programs.....

I've done this before but I forgot how to force a restart with the bare minumum of background programs running.....

Windows will continue to boot this way until you reopen the dialog box and select normal boot sequence.....

I could achieve the same thing by ctrl-alt-delt and closing the programs one by one but I know there is an easier way.....

If you would like windows to start with only a bare minimum of programs, and not start the unneeded ones at boot-up try this.
Goto programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system information.

It will bring up A window. From this window you can select from the menu system configuration. In turn you will see a list of programs that start when the machine is booted. Just remove the check on the left side of the program in which you do not want to start. After making your selections the computer will tell you that it needs to be restarted.

I am in Win2k right now so I can not give you the exact option to select when the Dialog box pops up that gives you the option to make changes. Sorry. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply...That's exactly what I was looking for...

I think there is a command you can type in the run program box that gets you to the same dialog box but I can't remember what it is....

Thanks again...
