Whenever I send a print job or Test page it will freeze. Only way out is reset. I tried deleting the printer and adding it again.... as well as different printers but it is all the same. For the brother HL-1440 I could get a config page printed. When I did a diagnostic it will freeze as well . I think the LPT control drivers might be corrupted. Is there a way to reinstall the Windows control file without reinstalling Win98?

Originally this is installed with a Oki 10e printer. It would print the Test page but not any documents. So I tried it with another printer brother HL-1440 brand new and driver out of the box. It would not print the test page and freezes whenever I job was sent. The same goes for an old HP 6L printer that would work with drivers that came in the 98 CD. When it freezes the clock stops as well. Printer never receive any kind of data.

Like I said above, I don't think it has anything to do with the printer or its drivers but more that something resident in Win 98. Or maybe the printer port is dead.

Have you made certain the printer cable isn't to blame?

When I disabled System.ini, Win.ini, autoexec.bat, startup programs. It worked perfectly fine without an error.
