Win 98 display properties issue

I have had an odd problem in win 98, whenever I try to increase my hardware acceleration for my vid card, upon restart it always goes back to its last setting. I have run two different cards and they all had the same problem. I have run sfc, norton systemworks, and updated to the latest drivers to no avail. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

It is possible your video setting does not allow full acceleration. Have you tried a Video card with about 32 megs RAM on it?

My last card was an Nvidia Geforce2 MX200 with 32 meg, and my new card is an ATI Radeon 7000 w/64 meg. When I first installed teh geforce I remember having a mouse problem in a game that was solved by reducing the acceleration all the way. Once I figured the conflict was with the mousetrails, I moved the slider up a notch and no problem. However, I now cannot move it up any more, even with the updated drivers and replacing the card.

Thanks.

When I run into wierd problems with Win98 I just blow it off and do a fresh install. Works every time. 🙂

Sounds like a driver issue, maybe you should try and punt all video drivers and let your Win98 system default video drivers kick in first, then try re-installing your ATI video drivers. I hate ATI video drivers, they are such a pain sometimes.

Thanks everyone. I think that I will try to dump the drivers first and reinstall win 98 second. I have a feeling that since I did install all new drivers when I went to my new card that a reinstall will be the option that fixes this.
