Win 98. Cannot hit network.

Upgrading OS not an option.

The PC gets an IP address from my router, but cannot browse the network at all.

So far I have.

Deleted the NIC in device manager rebooted.
Deleted the properties in network, rebooted and reconfigured.
Plugged the PC into the cable modem directly, it got an external legit IP address.
I can ping my local LAN machines, but cannot get any internet connectivity via any GUI tools.

WTF?

Did you add, I think its called Windows logon or something like that? Its part of the network properties for Windows 98. Its either Windows logon or another add on.


after the reboot, you should get a logon screen. Its just for a profile.

Try that.
