Just got the netgear 814 router and the netgear MA101 usb adapter. I installed the router no problem with 2 computers running hardline out of it and trying to add the third with the MA101. i followed the instructions and installed the software and drivers first, then it says click finish and plug the adapter in. So I did and it starts to load files and add new hardware, it asks if I want to replace the telnet file with an older one I say no, then it goes to reboot.....but instead being the peice of crap computer it is, what it really did was freeze instead. I figured that since it froze in the process of restarting it wasn't going to be that bad... but as usual I was wrong. SO now everytime something that uses the internet (e.g backweb, IE, ICQ, Gametiger, Traceroute) it gets an error and crashes. However I found that the adapter is working correctly and there is a physical (well wireless at least) connection because it shows up on the router as being an attactched device and because I am able to perform a ping. I figured maybe it was a protocol problem so I went through the process of installing all the protocols (netbui, ipx and tcp/ip) for all the adapters, that had no succes; so then I uninstalled all of them and disabled all network devices except the adapter. Still no success, so then I uninstalled all the adapters and with only the netgear adapter put all the protocols back on. Yet again no succces, so then I tried uninstalling the device and manually installing the drivers from the "updated" drivers on the site (by the way are the same driver version). Yet again we have no succes and I have rebooted this thing a million times. I belive it is something wrong with something operating at a higher layer than the physical since I can ping but not tracert, and it does at least ottain an ip dynamically. If anyone can help I would really aprreciate it. Thanks in advance.
