Well I just setup my friends old 486 dx2 66 with win 95.. the controller card isnt even on the board, its an isa card. Well, everything works fine in DOS, but when i load windows 95, the hard drive does a seek every 2 or 3 seconds.. constantly even when idle .. I need to fix this asap.. im using 2 old maxtor drives and I've tried each of them seperately and they both do it.. ANY IDEAS?????

How much RAM does the computer have? If it only a small amount (Under 16MB) then it may be that the OS is just writing to the swap file...Yes, I have noticed this happen, even when idle, and it drives me crazy, too.. :disgust:

The controller being an ISA card, it may also be possible that the card itself is causing the periodic writes..
