Win 8 has excellent text quality

I'm dualbooting (virtual hard drive) w win8 trial, and one thing I think that's immediately noticeable is the really nice text quality ( vs win7, which I thought had much better text quality than winxp). That's in desktop mode, however the text in metro apps doesnt' seem to be as crisp at first glance.

I've googled on this topic, and apparently win8 has hardware accelerated text. This is my 2nd day, still struggling with metro.

Got this from another forum, as I was having the same problem when using the preview version. Ive not tried this yet, as will only be installing win8pro, when I build my new pc in Jan/Feb.

It's the graphics card driver settings. Anamorphic Antialising or FXAA being activated cause this, as all of the Windows 8 metrointerface and framework (vector graphics) is rendered using the GPU. You will need to set the global settings for these types of antialiasing to Application controlled or disabled. Note this is also apparent in Java apps as well, I found this out from JDownloader graphically screwing up, along with MSN Messenger Windows Live Essentials versión
