Hi,
I can´t find information about one special note about the license. I intreasted about if you can move the copy of 8.1 to another computer.
When I bought the win 8 OEM I know that I can move this copy to another computer, yes selfbuilt and yes remove the previous copy. They talked about the "system builder license".
I have tried to search for this info but I cant find, It seems like they removed this with win 8.1.

So if I build a computer now and want to build another computer in the future, should I buy the OEM of RETAIL. Can it be that im even not allowed to buy OEM and build it myself, well it seems like I can cause I can se that stores are selling this.

Would really want some information about this and it seems like many others is searching for the same

With retail, yes definitely you can move to another machine

For oem, they added an new part called Personal Use License,
Details are available here
Although above they only have win8 listed it is the same for win8.1 as even on the MS OEM Partner page when looking at licensing they list it as 8 as well

The relevant part is
Can I transfer the software to another computer or user?
You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you.

Dahak...thanks for the reply. I think I wasn't clear. I bought, online, a 32bit version...but I wanted the 64 bit. When you buy from Microsoft Online, they don't tell you what version you are buying. They just read your current computer set up and give you the same version, and they dont tell you this.

Sorry for not follow up this tread as I started. Im still confused which version to get, Ill guess I will just go for win 8 (oem) and then upgrade to 8.1. Not a perfect solution but then I at least I can move my windows license to Another computer.
I do thins that Microsoft license rules are hard to follow, they change it and very few people know how they work, its sad.
