Win 7 vs Win 8 for mobile?

I have an extra serial of Win 7 Pro. Is there any advantage to going Windows 8.1 for mobile in terms of battery life or performance? Windows will be running via bootcamp on a new haswell based Macbook pro Retina w/Mavericks. Not sure if Win 8 will be improve my battery life at all?
 
I would say battery life is the single biggest improvement in Windows 8. It doesn't do anything for desktop, but for mobile, I'd go with Win 8 for that reason specifically.
