I bought some laptops last year and got XP installed on them rather than Vista. I ordered the 1st free upgrade to Windows 7 immediately and did not do the last few free upgrades until later.
While I was filling out the forms for the later ones, the dropdown said "Original Operating System" and *only* listed Vista (not XP). I ordered the upgrades anyway because Dell was being such a pain about them (it was like pulling teeth). I asked several times why it did not list XP as an option, and more importantly, did it matter.
So my question for you folks:
Would the upgrade DVD from Vista -> Windows 7 be the same physical media as XP -> Windows 7?
