Win 7 - Reverted from IE9 to IE8, now want IE7

I just did a major clean up of my Win7 Ultimate install, and somehow ended up with IE9.
Pandora radio does not work with IE9, so I reverted back to IE8 via the normal process:

CONTROL PANEL
PROGRAMS AND FEATURES
TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON OR OFF

Now I have real problems, and would really like to go back to IE7, but when I go to TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON OR OFF, nothing shows up in the listing window.

What is the best way for me to get back to IE7 from this current state of having reverted from IE9 back to IE8?

Thanks for any and all help.

First of all, Pandora radio works just fine in IE9. Maybe you should try updating Java or Flash?

Second, why would you want to go back to IE7? That is one of the least secure, most bloated, performance killing browsers I've ever had the displeasure of using. IE7 is pretty much what brought alternate browsers to light.

Whatever the reason, here's your answer.

enjoy your viruses. IE7, really?

Come on guys, be nice.... You all are abviously more in the know than I am, which is why I come here to ask questions in the first place.

1) Pandora did not work for me with IE9, and when I googled the question, I received several hits confirming this seeming fact. I didn't come here at the time, however, as I probably should have.

2) I didn't think there was any other option than to go back to IE7, because IE8 seems very problematic. Again, forgive me for not being in the know about how unsacure it is, and thank you for making it abundantly clear to me.

So then, if I must go back to IE9, I wil, but how do I do it?
Also, if it still doesn't work for me, what things should I check, besides updating java and flash, to get it to work?

If you don't like IE9 you should really switch to another browser, not install an old, unsupported, and potentially dangerous browser.

Chrome
Coolnovo (chrome knock-off)
Opera
Firefox
Maxthon

So many to choose from. IE is not the only game in town.

Again, I was simply not aware that IE7 was so unsecure. I am happy going back to IE9, and running pandora on FireFox.

The computer that I am talking about is my desktop PC.

Now, I am also runnig Win7 and IE9 on my laptop.
I just updated java and flash to the latest versions, and pandora still will not work in IE9.

Pandora worked fine on this laptop in XP with IE7, and in Win7 with IE8, but as soon as I updated it to IE9, it stopped working.

Any ideas?

When you say it "doesn't work," what do you mean? The page doesn't load? You can't hear sound? Can't see elements of the page?

You might need to add the page to Trusted Sites, or allow popups. You may need to disable antivirus or clear temporary internet files. You may even need to restore factory defaults in IE.

Is there any reason you want to use IE specifically? Both Firefox and Chrome are excellent browsers - much better than any version of IE.

Yes, I should clarify:

The Pandora page comes up with the small spinnig hoop, and it just keeps spinning for a couple of munutes. Then the following message is displayed:

It is taking longer than expected to fetch the next song to play. The music should be playing soon. If you get tired of waiting, you can try reloading your browser.

Do the things I suggested, or try another browser.

Could it be the speed of your internet connection?

Thanks for the suggestions.
To your earlier question, there is no specific reason that I want to use IE for Pandora, other than that I am Anal, and just think it should work.
I can use FireFox, but sometimes I go into IE just out of habbit, and then run into this problem, and it takes me awhile to remember what the issue is.

I am old, my memory is not that great, and I have a lot of things to keep track of, so these kind of thiings are a pain for me LOL

Whatever floats your boat :)

In my experience, though, these kinds of issues come with IE. I've been running Chrome for the better part of two years, and I can only recall it crashing once (and that was because of Flash). If you can get used to it, I don't know a single person that regrets moving to Chrome.

I will gladly give chrome a try.
I know it is a google product, but how do I get it on my home PC?

Only a fresh install on a blank/reformatted hard drive would qualify (to me) as a "major clean up".
Do you have a Windows 7 install disc?

Just an odd suggestion, when you are running the 64bit version of ie9? the only reason why I ask is because I have encountered and issue where the user was using the 64bit version and it did not load a control needed.

I figure i would just suggest it even though you did not mention running 64bit win7

Thanks for the links and info guys.

Yes I am using Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I completely aggree with you, and was about to go out an buy Win7 and Office 2010, and do a clean reformated install, when someone suggested the following process:

Step 1) MalwareByts latest and updated
Step 2) SuperAntiSpyware latest and updated
Step 3) CCleaner

I had had a virus issue awhile back, and could never get it completely cleaned up to where it ran like I wanted it to. SuperAntiSpyware found and cleaned a whole bunch of stuff including Trojans, Spyware, etc.... 34 items to be exact.

After this my system ran much better, including the internet, nice and snappy, and since I just bought a house, and did some major remodeling and updating, the espenditure was not one I care to make right now.

Then I ignorantly chose to revert back to IE8 so that I could run Pandora, and now my IE experience hase been largely diminished. If I had known about IE8, I would have left well enough alone, and simply used FireFox for Pandora.
