Win 7 repeatedly loses printer

From what I see in internet searches this is a common problem but I have not run across an answer yet.
My sister has 2 USB printers connected to a Trendnet print server into a router of a home network. She uses a laptop with Win 7 Pro. When we first set up the printers they worked that day. When she came back to the computer the next day it could not find the printers. If she deleted and reinstalled the printer she was able to get it to work again. Then the next time she got on the laptop she had the same issue.

Her old Win XP laptop works fine so she has to use that laptop if she wants to print.

Does anyone know what the problem/solution is with Win 7?

I think it isn't so much a problem with Win7 as a problem with the print server on your router.

The print server works fine with the XP machines though so I didn't think that would be the cause. I suppose it might be a compatibility issue between the print server and Win 7 though but it's strange that it will work one time and then stop. Plus the other people having problems that I saw in my internet searches were not all using print server. However, they were all using USB printers. I don't think the old parallel printers will even work with Win 7.
I don't know if she will want to spend money experimenting with other print servers or other routers with print servers built in. I only have 1 week to solve her problem when I go there on vacation. I want to try to have all the information I can get before I go.

I'd venture a guess as a driver issue with the printers she is using and Windows 7.

Try putting the Printer and each computer into the same Workgroup. That fixes a lot of issues when trying to share a device, such as a wireless printer. Also if your printer have network jacks, they may work better if you can connect them direct to a port on the switch or router.

Does the print server have a static IP?
