Win 7 power settings question...

I installed Win 7 yesterday on a new HD. Once installed and running I noticed an Icon in the systry that says "Fully Charged (100%)" It is the same one on my lappy. I've looked in the power settings to reset it to desktop, but no luck. Any idea how to change it?

Thanks

You must have a UPS plugged in -- the "Fully Charged (100%)" refers only to the charge state of the UPS battery. You'll normally see this icon on any Windows machine with a battery (including laptops) that don't have any custom power control software installed.

You can right-click on it and turn off the Power system icon if you don't want it to display.

Interesting....I did have the UPS monitoring sw installed on Vista, thus didn't get this icon. I'll try installing the progam on Win 7 and see if it works. What confused the issue was the power setting...it asked how I want the system to react when on batter and on AC power. This and the icon made it look like they took my system to be notebook.

I installed the UPS monitoring program and now the power setting are as expected. WEIRD, but good!

Thanks Steltek for pointing me in that direction.
