WIN 7 OEM DVD won't boot

I got a rootkit that can't get rid off (trojan BC miner) and just decided to reformat by SSD and be done with it. The problem is that my original win 7 dvd OEM wont boot. I get a message stating that I need a bootable media in the drive and then my regular win7 installation boots. I've seen bunch of people have the same issue in the net but I couldn't find a definitive answer. Kind of nervous in wiping my current installation without knowing for sure this will help.

Edit. Yes my DVD driver works and it is the top boot drive 🙂

These new rootkits are no joke, but wiping and reinstalling Windows should be last, after all else fails. Download Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. Temporarily disable your existing AV and close any other programs before running. If KVRT can't kill this rootkit from the Windows environment you'll need to run the Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10, which is a Linux based boot disk. Download it and burn the ISO. Read How to start scan for viruses using Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 before trying to use it.

Dude great advise, :thumbsup: but it was too late :'(
I managed to boot from DVD, just hit enter at the message

Comcast offers some free security suite including Norton antivirus and that was the first thing I installed. Hoping for the bets since my free AVG didn't got the rootkit.

Dirty or DVD with Smudges, can cause those kind of errors also ?
if not always check the boot load order settings in your BIOS Settings to
ensure that the proper load order in the boot process.
