Anyone else notice some choppiness playing back mkv files in Windows 7? Some parts of videos seem choppy, while if I fast forward a little others play smooth. My CPU usage is like 3%. I am using Win 7 x64 build 7100. I used Vista x64 SP1 before and it worked fine.

I am using Haali media splitter. I tried CoreAVC and tried uninstalling CoreAVC and using Win 7's built in codec both seem to do the same thing. I am using Windows media player.

I tried Media player classic-home cinema and it works fine though.

What kind of files are you playing back? 1080p or lower res?

I've mainly been playing 720p mkvs and I'm not seeing any chop.

I've got mkv playing in wmp 12 w/ subtitle support.

without Fddshow or hacking.

If you want to try it, I'll upload the Matroskasplitter.ax and VsFilter.dll I have for 64bit.

You can also swap windows media player to run in 64bit, which should yield better performance.

You can increase the buffer in Haali splitter: Options > Input > Input Buffer Size

The default is 8192 KB. I increased mine to 32768 KB. That helped a lot on my end. I have also found that CoreAVC runs smoother than ffdshow's libavcodec.

I also have had much better luck using Zoom Player instead of Media Player.

I think it is because WMP is not using my CoreAVC codec. It is forcing the Microsoft x264 codec. I'm going to try some registry tweaks to see if I can get it changed.

the default buffer size appears to be 32m in haali video renders properties , however i suppose I have a newer version of CCCP installed.
