Win 7 HP backup - not to network?

So, I am about to upgrade to Win 7 HP off of Vista HP SP2, and see that there is no longer the ability to backup to another network location. Questions:

1) I can still do full backups to another drive on the same computer, correct, using a Win 7 tool, or is this gone as well?

2) When I build a WHS machine, the server software will solve this issue, I assume? Once I build the network, then I can backup onto the server from any Windows machine? (i.e. I don't need to upgrade to Win 7 Pro, or buy a third part software to back up the Win 7 HP to a WHS machine?)

3) Any other details I might be missing based on my previous questions😀?
