Win 7 computer kills internet connection

I have two devices that hook up to my router, a Macbook and a Gateway SX-2802 with Win 7. Whenever I turn the damn Gateway on, the internet connection goes dead. It seems as though the computer is sending some message somewhere to kill the internet. Even with the macbook off, the connection is dead to the internet.

I have updated the drivers for the network card and have even changed routers and I'm still having problems.

I am gonna do a wipe and reinstall later on this week, but what could the problem be that is causing this damage?
