Win 7 COA key wrong type?

I spent a little time today taking inventory of my Windows 7/8 keys in preparation of Windows 10. I came across something a little odd I can't think of an explanation for.

Around three years ago I bought a Lenovo Y580 laptop and it's running the pre-installed Windows 7 Pro. (I assume this is an SLP key?). However the COA sticker on the laptop shows as "Windows 7 Home Prem OA". They are of course different keys.

Other than a mistake on Lenovo's part, is there any good reason the COA key wouldn't be Win 7 Pro? And is that key, which has never technically been used, intrinsically tied to this hardware already?

yeah, many corporate laptops come with different COA OS than what IT dept installs. I'd check what SLP has... if it has HP key in it you better furnish win 7 pro key from within running Windows, just to be safe.

edit. i thought with at least older SLP versions you could install any version of the particular OS as long as you know the magic key.
