I spent a little time today taking inventory of my Windows 7/8 keys in preparation of Windows 10. I came across something a little odd I can't think of an explanation for.
Around three years ago I bought a Lenovo Y580 laptop and it's running the pre-installed Windows 7 Pro. (I assume this is an SLP key?). However the COA sticker on the laptop shows as "Windows 7 Home Prem OA". They are of course different keys.
Other than a mistake on Lenovo's part, is there any good reason the COA key wouldn't be Win 7 Pro? And is that key, which has never technically been used, intrinsically tied to this hardware already?
