Win 7 can't see my SSD

I have an Intel X25-m 80GB and a Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R. I'm trying to install Win7 on the SSD but it is not being recognized during windows installation. The mobo recognizes the ssd in the bios. What am I doing wrong?

Just out of curiosity do you happen to have a Windows XP or Vista install disk you can try to see if it's recognized in that capacity?

There's two different SATA controllers on that MB.

Make sure you have it on the Intel controller.

There are three different SATA controllers on this MB. ICH10R, a Gigabyte controller for a couple of the SATA2 ports and a Marvel controller for the SATA3 ports. I have the SSD on SATA0 which is controlled by the Intel South Bridge. The motherboard also offers the option to select either native or legacy for SATA ports 0-2 and I have tried both settings with no luck.

Forget what people said this is normal.

You must go to control panel, then administrative tools then computer management, then go down to disk storage, and there youll see your drive you right click it and format it make it available to OS.

These are instructions for W7 .. that is what everyone has to do when they put in a new drive. gl
