On the link you posted there were people who posted screenshots of this build and have the regular W7 icon tabs. Are you saying there are no longer icon tabs in this latest build?

I wouldn't expect that they got rid of them. It's been optional the whole way through the beta. I could see them making the classic method default, but not getting rid of grouping all together.

Havent had any chance to play with this yet. Still have to scrounge up many reliable X64 drivers

Edit:
Yeah I must have clicked somthing to get classic
Found this:
the taskbar doesn't have anything to do with the version. Right click the task bar go to properties and set "taskbar buttons" to: combine when full and it will look like classic.

You could set it to look like that for quite some time now.
similarily set the option to "always combine, hide labels" to get it original way
----------
Shoulda known - its obvious - lol

:p

so there is no timer on this then? No expiration date and the RC keys dont work?'

I see this obviously isnt RTM but another of the RTM branch...

Quote:
"WZor had stated that Microsoft had to vote and discuss about which of these builds, 7260, 7261 and 7262 would be RTM but in the end, none of the builds got the required votes to pass. They then decided to compile another build which is 7263 as the new candidate for RTM. WZor also stated the RTM should be after June 19th and not on June 19th. They are trying to say that June 19th is the key date. There are very slight possibilities that Build 7263 will leak and even though it gets leaked, it might not be RTM because "signed" the build. WZor also stated that we should not get any ideas that it would come out at Microsoft Connect or MSDN that early. We would have to wait for another 2 or 3 weeks after that build is decided."

Credits WZor.

Since this thread has gotten over 600 views and is still current, I guess there are some folks on AT who do care about Win 7 rumors and info

I care bozo, i care :).

Also i guess the best idea would be to download the buidl that is rtm and use it as a RC till it expires. I need to reinstall windows 7 and im trying to decide what to do. I dont think i could install RTM considering i wont have a retail key till oct 22.

Yes thats a good point, I think that you should go for the version you have tried that works the best up until now with your current HW/driver set.
7229 X64 is the one for me

ive only tried 7100, it was supposed to be just test install but slowly became everyday use.

Its now gone and my old vista install still remains, i was gonna format vista and replace with 7. I have 7232 64.

I think i will wait a couple days though just to see what happens.

I'm sticking with 7100 till the OEM is available.

I don't like the longer vista-style tabs. I Hope the current icons/groupings stays the default with the option to change it.

+1 I am having 0 problems with the RC build and it is running perfect on my machine. I have already loaded all my stuff and am quite pleased with it. Only thing that chaps my ass is having to reinstall it again early next year before the expiration date.
