win 7 64bit remote desktop issues

never had a problem in xp or vista

when rdp'ng in win7 64bit now, everything works fine but when going back to the local machine and logging back in, my graphics settings require a reboot, it's like it resets the drivers and i can't do anything until i reboot. ive always had to reset the icons as the local machine has a 24" lcd, and im usually remoting in from a 19" and the resolution is different, that's not the issue, it's almost like it resets the video card to 8 bit with no acceleration.

video card is an hd5850 ati. which was the same card i was using on xp64 and vista 64 w/o issues. is there something in 7 i'm not aware of?

I would set the resolution in Remote Desktop to match the resolution of the machine you're remoting into. You might also check the color depth.
