I have had BSD screens last few days. It all started with some sort of USB problem when I printed something to my HP 812C USB printer (AMD 1700 on Soyo Dragon board w/When rebooting, ZoneAlarm would freeze on its auto-startup. Even Safe Mode failed several times. Finally got started, reloaded a fresh version of Zone Alarm (which still doesn't work right).
When I try to print, everthing freezes. Sometimes I can disconnect every USB device, then reconnect without the printer and then the mouse & keyboard might work. I see messages that the prihnter is offline, and when I try to connect, the computer says I have MS trackball & MS keyboard, both set up as USB until problems, when I switched the keyboard to the legacy connector. I have tried to install another printer, but was told there wasn't sufficient resources. Even when very few things were running after a reboot.
I tried to re-load Win 2k, but I have RAID 0 on the Dragon motherboard w/Maxtor hard drives. When I tried to do a repair using Win 2K, it wouldn't recognize the array and kicked me out of the repair. (Does anyone have an answer to that problem?)
My next thought is to buy a USB card (I only need 1.1 if anyone has one laying around). Any better ideas????????????????? I don't want to reformat my drives (I haven't done it in a year and not sure I even remember the sequence for getting all the right drivers in what order...).
