Win-2K SCSI RAID woes

I'm having trouble installing win-2K on my system, which uses an Adaptec AAA-131U2 SCSI RAID adapter and two Seagate cheetah X15s in RAID0. Windows setup sees the drive, but it always tells me that it is an unknown disk, and that I should create a win-2K compatible partition on it. Now, I'm not sure what exactly they want me to do that I haven't already tried. I've wiped the array and low-level formated from the Adapter set-up utility. Just now I created a fat32 partition, and setup saw that, but wouldn't install on that either; It claimed again that it was an unknown disk. Please help me out, I'm about to hit my wit's end.

And I do load the drivers. It just won't recognize any partition that I create as a valid windows 2000 partition, or so I think. I've tried both the latest and the shipping drivers to no avail. Any other suggestions?

Marty,

Check the Adaptec web site and ensure that the card you have is W2K compat. I had a AAA-131 that I could set up and run under NT4 but there was ZERO supprt under 2K. If you bought it recently and need the 2K support supposedly you can get with Adaptec and "trade" it for the model that will work under 2K.

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. However, it did ship with win2K drivers, so I don't see how that would be the case.

Well, I called Adaptec today, and they told me it was a boot sector virus. I ran fdisk with the switch "/mbr," and it responded saying, "The master boot record has NOT been updated." The tech support person told me to use an emergency repair disk from Mcafee or Norton. I tried the one from Mcafee one, but it came up with nothing.

What should I do from here? Are there any other emergency utilities I can try? Has anyone ever done this kind of thing? Your support is desperately needed!

Please post your responses here.
