Helped roommate to fix comp, then screwed up the comp. He had Win98 and his network card didn't work. So i made him get Win 2k Pro and it still didn't work. Then we decided to remove all the network stuff from the comp... TCP/IP, MS Login, stuff like that. Then rebooted the comp and would freeze at Win2k bootup screen. I tried booting through F8 and going to all of hte safe modes, everyone of them froze. I tried to hit Del at bootup but the bios boot screen isn't displayed and it continues to load win2k. I also put in the win2k disc in, but the comp doesnt go to it and continues to load Win2k (and freezes). What should I do???? Thanks.

Try posting in the Operating Systems or Technical Support forums. They are the smart people. Only the nefs live here 🙂

Anyways, it doesn't seem like a problem isolated to 2k if you had troubles in 9x....

[edit] In my defense, it was in OT when I posted and the Crazy-Fast Mod moved it WHILE I was posting. Now there's talent[/edit]

did you do a clean install?

Why would you make him change his OS if his network card didn't work? Should have changed the network card 1st. Why dont you boot to boot floppy disk, reformat drive and start over again. I would swap out the network card 1 st tho. I would also find out which key gets you into the bios because you arent using the correct one, then boot to cd and reinstall windows 2k.
