Ok so this is kind of a long message but bare with me.

A few days ago on a work computer I ran Ad-aware 6.0 to get rid of all the crappy spyware. Everything worked fine....until the next day. No network connectivity at all. If I tried to run netmeeting I would get a error stating "NetMetting could not start. restart computer and try again".

So that is were the issue started. I'll try to be as detailed as I can.

As it stands right now I can ping all the computers on the network. It will hoever not get its info from DHCP. If I enter it manualy the other computers can see it. However it can't see them. At some point I also removed it from the domain as part of the redoing all the connectivity stuff. Naturally now I can't get it to rejoin the domain. when I do the wizard to rejoin half the time I get a incorrect password/username error and half the time I get a "interface is unknown" error. Also when trying to refresh the DHCP lease I get the error "an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket".

First thing I did was run Adaware again and restore the stuff it had removed the day before.

Second thing I did was remove TCP/IP, file and print shareing, and client for Ms networks under connection properties. Rebooted and reinstalled them. No change. Tried deleting the "local area connection 4" under the network and dial up connections and that did nothing. Even tried it with TCP/IP etc removed and it still wouldn't let me delete it.

Third thing I did was remove the network adaptor in device manager and let it redetect. I then repeated the above steps in a madening number of combinations.

fourth was to remove the network adaptor again under device manager and install a fress driver from linksys.

Finally found the install disk and ran the repair process....twice combined with all the stuff above in different configutations.

Still can't figure it out! This has been driving me nuts for almost two full days now. I know it is going to be something simple I'm overlooking but I can't figure it out.

So in the Event viewer right now I have these messages since start up. I'll include them all for for the sake of having all the info possible.

Any Help you could give would be great. I haven't been in the field for a couple years so I'm a bit rusty.

P.S. It is a NT4 domain with win2k pro workstations. Weird yes but its been stable as a rock until the other day.
