Win 2K Pro CD ROM and CD-RW Drive Problem Help!!!!

i installed a clean windows 2k pro on my computer, and after finish all the installation for video card, sound card and everything, i use the roxio easy cd creator 5 to burn a mp3 cd, thats when i find out that the cdrom and cd-rw gone from my computer, i went to device manager and those two items are under "!" sign, it says those two cd-rom need drivers, so i looks for the driver in the windows, it found it and ask for restart, after restart its still not there, and the "!" is still there, i had this problem before, but i just reformat the computer at that time, anyone has this problem? thanks for helping.

That's a known problem. Avoid Eazy CD Creator 5 like the plague like I did (after seeing alot of posts complaining about it). Use Nero or equivalent instead to burn.

the problem is the cd-rom drive is not there, it doesn't show inside the my computer. even when i am not burning any cd, it just not there. i use plextor manager 2000. same thing. even when i put in the audio cd or application cd, nothing happen.

But you said you use the "roxio easy cd creator" to burn your CDs.. and I'm saying that by installing that software, it blows away your devices (I believe it does like the Adaptec easy CD 5 version by adding its own drivers and/or messing with the existing ones, so that they disappear from device manager).

If you do a search in here about XP and people downloading it and burning their own CDs like I did, or do a search on the "best" CD burner software, you'll see mention of it.
