I am a home user who does quite a bit of gaming and web browsing. I have dvd and cd writer. The question is should I go with 2000 Pro or Win ME? Does 2K Pro have full DVD and CDRW support? Just looking for a little help
win2k has all the gaming support you would ever need once you install directX8 and all the latest hardware drivers, it's more stable than WinME, WinME is a piece of junk and I think it will be quickly forgotten.
2k is the best... rock solid stability. if u play any ea games tho, you should dual boot since ea still doesn't understand that you can actually play games in w2k
Absolutely 2k. ME is proving to be less stable every day, IMHO. And 2k is proving to be more so. From my own experience I've had some problems burning CDs, I had to switch from Easy CD Creator to CDRWin but that's no biggie. Other than that, 2k r0xs 🙂
If you're an AMD-VIA user, then you sould consider that running Win 2K *might* screw up your CD-Writer. There have been a few issues regarding this which, hopefully, gets fixed with the upcoming Servie Pack 2.
I have a Plextor 12/10/32 and I have trouble burning CD's a lot of the time.
I never had these problems with WinME. What's the AMD/VIA problem you were talking about?
