Win 2k Lock Ups in Games...Plz Help.

I'm running Win 2k and am coming from using Win 98SE. I'm having probs. w/ games locking up. Specifically Half-Life - Counter-Strike (after a short amount of time), and Everquest (after a very long time). I have installed the Win 2k AGP patch for my system but didn't seem to clear it up. I am able to run Q3A for hours on end though w/o probs. My sys specs are in my sig. Plz help me! Any suggestions? Is there any way to *make sure* that the AGP patch is installed correctly? I've installed SP1, some critical updates, and a couple compatibility patches. Also, the driver I'm using is one that the MS Update site recemended...should I try another? I have used 6.31 w/ the same probs....

win 2k is not a good gaming os I sugest reformating and using a dual boot with win2k and win 98

Not having any problems here with W2k playing Everquest ( 10-14 hours up at times ), but I don't have an AGP card.
