You don't fix it. The ASPI HAL puts all add-in cards on the same IRQ. It's not like non-ASPI HALs that had to have each device on a separate IRQ or at most 2 device sharing one.

EDIT
If you're really getting problems (you shouldn't because of the IRQ thing in this case though), then you can re-install Win2K but force it not to use an ASPI HAL - tell it to use the standard PC HAL.

This is supposed to be a feature of win2K since all industry standard PCI devices should be able to share IRQs with others.

Yeah, don't worry about it. Everyone asks the same question when they install Win2K, even I did. It's normal for Win2K and doesn't cause any problems.:)

Bingo. The MX300 is notoriously unsupported in Win2k. I suggest you pick yourself up another sound card (I had to go out and get a SBLive Value for win2k use).

Here we go again....a copy and paste from my other responses:

Windows 2000 has been installed in ACPI mode and that is how it assigns its plug and play resources. Most people have no problems, other people do have problems. Usually it's all assigned to IRQ9...supposedly it's used as a gateway to virtual IRQs above 15.

If you have no problems, I recommend you leaving the assignments alone.

Anyway, here is the article from Microsoft dealing with it.

If you want to manually assign IRQs, or just let Windows do it properly, you have to change the ACPI mode HAL to Standard PC HAL.

To do this, go into Device Manager, and look under Computer. It should say Advanced Configuration Power Interface PC. Change this to Standard PC by changing the driver. Then reboot. Hopefully it should come out OK.

You may lose the ability for Win2K to shut down properly by itself. If this is the case, you will need to disable the ACPI driver and install the APM driver. I recommend doing a reinstall for full system support.

If you need to reinstall, hit F5 while it is detecting all the devices right at the very beginning to manually select the Standard PC HAL. You may also need to turn ACPI off in the BIOS if you have that option.

I only removed the ACPI from my Win2k within the System Properties, changed it to Standard PC. By doing that increased the cpu idle temperature almost by 10C, but made my overclocked system whole lot stable at the same time.
The cpu is even running rock solid at lower voltage.

Mustanggt, having all PCI devices sharing a single IRQ is normal under Win2K. ACPI does this. Every Dell Win2K machine I've seen comes preinstalled with the ACPI HAL, and every PCI device is sharing an IRQ.
