Well this is just an observation but i tried the hitman demo and it runs faster under win2k (than winME)for me.. well i am not sure about fps.. it seems smooth enough but the load times are much quicker... i assume this is due to the better memory management. anyone else find this to be true.. i could definitley spare 5 fps for much quicker load times.. thats what really urks me, especially after playing halflife where they have done a hell of a job loading levels. just my 2 cents

It depends. But generally, I find win9x is better for games. But with enough memory (256MB RAM), win2k is pretty good for games also.

I've found that win2k is definetly BETTER for games. It is not always faster, but definetly BETTER. First of all, Win2000 is a far more stable platform, and when a game crashes, your whole system doesnt crash. And second of all, games dont hit the page file and stutter nearly as much in win2k as they do in 98. And the FPS loss is about 3-5%. Well worth it when youve got a decent cpu and vid card that can pump out over 60fps already. All you need is a properly supported vid card and sound card (Nvidia and Sb Live are the best in 2k), and youre set. I'm never going back to 98.
