Win 2K and Asus A7V MB

I tried to install Win 2K on a system with an Asus A7V MB. It kept reporting no bootable media found
or errors on the hd. Run chkdsk /f etc... I'm using the onboard Promise IDE controller for the hd.
Has anyone got this to work?

A7V MB
Bios A7V1009
40GB WD 7200 ATA133 HD
3D Prophet Geforce 2 MX
SB Live! Value

I had a A7V up to about 6 months ago. My promise controller went south on me.

Have you tried to put the drive on to the via controller and try an install?

That is the easy way. Press F6 when you are installing win2k. That will allow you the option of booting from the promise controllers. Check this thread out. It might help. You are having the same problem I did.

I had nothing but problems with running the Promise RAID as an IDE port and putting a single hard drive on it. Fault protection errors, not booting, corrupted data, unrecoverable stop errors.

I have my CDRW on the promise controller and it works great. I would only put hard drives on the Via IDE controller unless you plan on RAID setup.

Hope it helps,
Bob
