I installed my copy of W2K with a different product key and now I want to change it to My product key. If I install over my current setup will it enter the proper key and will I loose any previous software installs and customizing??

Thank's

It's a serial number in the registry, or a converted number from the product key, not the actual product key.

You will lose your custom settings if you re-install Windows. Do you have another machine that has your build and SN of Windows 2000? If do, you can go into the registry and get the key from there.

Why don't you partition your hard drive copy everything over there that way if anything goes wrong with the installation you can simply paste the directories over back.

Just wait for a day when you hose the install you have now and then put in your key. What is the big deal about putting in anohter anyway? As long as you own your own copy there is no harm in which key you use.
