Win 2000 & RAID array??????

I've tried to set-up a RAID 0 array on my A7V266-E mb under Win 2K PRO, but I have the following problem(s):

Set-up cables exactly like the manual says - (1) on the Primary IDE, (1) on the Secondary IDE, using ATA100 cables that came w/Motherboard. RAID controller will not recognize drives when set-up this way.

Set-up cables on the Promise IDE 1 & Promise IDE2. RAID controller recognizes both drives, configures array for Striping/RAID 0. When PC is re-booted, boots from CD & I enter WIN 2000 PRO setup, but WIN 2K PRO doesn't see the drives at all.

I'm using (2) identical WD 40GB drives, and I changed the jumper from ATA100 to RAID. Set both drives jumpers to "Master" as manual suggests.

Anyone have any ideas?????

Win2K setup should be asking for mass storage drivers early on. At that time you have to do something like press F6 and have the Promise drivers available, such as on a floppy. It may be that you have to start setup from floppies rather than CD.

Well I figured-out PART of the problem - my monitor is going black just when Win 2K is asking for the RAID drivers!
The monitor goes dark for ~ 30-45 secs while setup loads the files it needs. This is also the time when Win 2k asks for any RAID or scsi drivers.... :(

Anyone else experience this or have a solution??????

Unfortunately, the opportunity to hit F6 is when the monitor is dark so I can't load the drivers.... :(

Anyone else????

Ive got a similar probelm when tring to install win2000.

I press F6 at the begining like it tells me to. Later on it asks for the driver disk so I give it to windows, but it still doesnt install the drivers. With no drivers win200 says I have no hard disk.

and I have an Asus A7V133 with a Raid0 setup, with the latest drivers from the asus web site

NEED HELP!!!! please win98se is crap:|

I also have an a7v266e, and granted you have the proper drivers, win2k should install them correctly. Have you tried using a different monitor during the install? Also, the install program will ask for the driver twice, from what I remember, and you do have to let it install the driver twice (once for each raid socket). I have used 2k with two motherboards that have onboard raid, and it installed the raid drivers correctly for both boards (there is actually a nice full-raid bios for that board, and a driver that works in 2k or XP), so check all your bases and it should work out for you.

I have 2K, but haven't set up a RAID array yet. Can you actually boot to a GUI or are you shut out before that? Seems like you could update the drivers from Control Panel afterwards if you can get loaded. Have you tried holding down the F6 key (as others suggest) while the screen is black, or anythihg else that might delay the process until your screen comes back?

what heppens is this

I press F6 when it asks me to. After disk 2 of the win2000 bootdisks has been processed it tells me to select a driver for the storage device so i give it the drivers, everything is fine.

Then after all 4 disks have been processsed it asks for the "Promise FastTrack Family Driver Diskette". No matter what I give it, windows just wond accept the drivers.

I have tried may times and am going insane, any help would be greatly appriciated

On the Promise drivers diskette.....there are subfolders with the drivers in them. You need to go to the A drive on another computer (unlock the diskette from being write protected first, Promise usually locks it) and copy the files that are in the WIN2K folder to the root directory of the A drive.
