win 2000 internet explorer question

When I right click a link in explorer and select open in new window. My question is how do I make it open in a new window maximized?

"link in explorer"

IE or Windows explorer?

If you are already in IE, I do not believe you can make a new window maximized. However, you can make the window large enough that it is almost maximized. Here's how:

With ONE IE window, open a new window.
Resize this new window to the size you desire **without** maxmizing it.
Close the new window by clicking the X in the top right **WHILE** pressing CTRL.

All new windows **should** be using the default larger size. You **may** have to shut down IE or completely log out to make the new window setting stick.

Also, by default, when you first start IE, its window will be the exact size and location of the last IE windows that was closed. This window can be maimized and that state will remain the default.

Thanks SUOrangeman.

I am talking about IE. Whenever I open new window I get this dinky window that opens up and I end up maximizing it. I thought it would be nice to change it. I thought I could do something in the registry to adjust this. I have done several searches in the registry and came up empty. But I am just guessing at names of keys.

I will try your suggestion. Thanks again.

I just tried this and still the same thing. I am using win 2000 and IE5.0

I resized then ctrl closed IE window(s). no

I resized then ctrl closed IE window(s) logged off windows. no

I resized then ctrl closed IE window(s) shut down and restart windows. no

The most aggravating part of this is the three window buttons are under my office tool bar. So I have to move the window then Maximize. I preffer to browse full window it would be nice to open as such.

Just one of those tinkering things.

Hmmm it works for my. I don't have to restart/log off or anything. I'm running win98se though, will try it in 2000 when i restart.

Just a thought: Do you ctrl+close both IE windows? Including the one that's maximixed? only ctrl+close the one you resized yourself.

I ctrl + close just the one I resized. I will try doing both.

Edit:

I just tried it and still I get this small window. Although one thing has changed the window now opens in the middle of the screen instead of the very top. I don't know what I did to move it though.
